Fran Padgett, Founder and Executive Director
Diagnosed with breast cancer in 2001, Fran left her successful business career to pursue her passions for painting and writing, and her new calling – finding a cause and a cure for breast cancer. Recognizing her dedication to the cause of breast cancer, BMW named Fran a Houston 2005 Hero in connection with BMW’s Ultimate Drive for the Cure, which raises funds for the Susan G. Komen Foundation. Fran is a charter member of the Cypress Creek Museum of Fine Arts, and author of “Breast Cancer Recovery: No One Wrote a Manual,” winner of six national literary awards, and “Breast Cancer: No One Chose This Journey,” due in bookstores Spring of 2009. Maria Culley, President
Maria received her BA, Liberal Arts, from Kalamazoo College in Michigan, with an emphasis in Biology. She went on to get a Master’s degree in Education and an MBA in management, and worked for both Texas Instruments and Compaq Computer Corporation. Now retired, but busy with two teenagers, she devotes herself to homeschooling and non-profit work. Maria formerly served as a founding Board Member of the Houston Family Arts Center, and now serves as President of The Weathervane Foundation. She has produced three fundraising events for breast cancer research since 2006, featuring her sister’s contemporary dance group, Lineage Dance of Los Angeles, most recently in January 2009. Most importantly, Maria shares the vision of her fellow Board Members… to find the cause and cure for cancer.
Jack Skagerberg, Vice Pres/Secretary
John (“Jack”) Skagerberg is co-owner of Omega Loan, LLC, a Houston based national residential mortgage bank. His background is in investment real estate securities law. Jack has been a member of the State Bar of Texas since 1984 and has been admitted to the Fifth (New Orleans) and Seventh (Chicago) U.S. Circuit Courts of Appeals, as well as, the U.S. Supreme Court.
Tim Duffy, Vice Pres/Treasurer
Tim received his Bachelors Degree from the University of Houston, and his Masters Degree from the University of Texas – Austin, in finance and accounting. With eighteen years of banking experience, Tim is currently President of Business Banking at First Bank, Houston, Texas.
Tracy Miller, Vice Pres/Assistant Secretary
Tracy is a certified financial planning practitioner whose firm, TMiller Financial, helps clients accumulate, grow and protect their net worth.
